  • Objective: To provide expanded opportunities for both veteran and non-veteran members of the club to support local, state, and national veterans’ programs and activities. the Veterans Affairs Committee is looking to consolidate club veterans’ programs and activities and investigate areas we can become increasingly involved in support of the military and veteran's groups across the board. where demonstrated needs have been identified (PTSD programs, job search assistance and/or skill training, local veteran’s family support during extended deployments, Blue Star Moms/Buckeye Military Moms, etc.).

  • Program Year The calendar below provides a look at VAC program for the next club Administration year.  We pride ourselves with taking the time and making the effort to show the community that our club is strongly supportive of our country’s veterans and their needs.
  • Current Major Project.  During his Administrative year as Club President, Dwight Seeley initiated a large-scale initiative to research and develop a Freedom Station for Veterans in Central Ohio that would provide Housing, Care, and Transition Assistance to veterans in the process of transferring from military service to the private sector careers.  This project would potentially involve establishing a housing area for veterans in central Ohio that would provide a central point of action and activity while in the transition period.  Several options were being pursued in an effort to determine if such a project would have support in Central Ohio, who and what organizations would be available to assist in the project, and if there were sufficient interest and resources to support the establishment and operation of such a Freedom Station community.  While this would start out as a Dublin AM Rotary project, the intent was to involve District 6690 clubs and personnel in the project and eventually seek to expand the project to include all Ohio Rotary Clubs in some manner to provide continuity, coverage, and collaboration/cooperation in this veteran’s support activity and program.
  • The past year has seen significant activity in research, discussions, and meetings with multiple existing state and local veteran organizations, veteran support services, and individual community groups that were either in the process of conducting several veteran support programs or were also in the process of researching specific areas of veteran support needs and activities that would benefit Ohio veterans multiple area, include several with similar focus and interests as our club housing, care, and transition assistance. Our efforts have been productive and the project team (Past President Dwight Seeley, VAC Committee Chair Dave Williamson, and several other members of the VAC are beginning to see the need potentially focusing more on a collaboration effort vice a housing and activity project.Dwight and Dave will be providing an update to the VAC during the November 2019 time period.
