Dublin AM Rotary Newsletter OCT 2025

President Peter's Message

Fall is here and with the fall are several exciting events over the next few weeks.

First and foremost is the Dublin AM Rotary Club’s first ever Night at the Races Fundraiser at the Country Club on Friday, October 24 from 6-9:00 p.m. Come enjoy a fun night of horse racing, gourmet food and refreshments, and fellowship – all in support of the Dublin AM Rotary Charitable Foundation. The link to sign up is here. Attendance for this event is low – we’d like to get a great turn out, so please sign up, but also invite your friends, family, and colleagues for what promises to be a great event!

On October 16, Mike and Heather Isler will host Happy Hour Cocktails. Yours truly will host a perfect party in November!

We will also soon be kicking off our Polio Plus 125 Campaign in support of Rotary International’s Polio vaccination initiatives. I encourage everyone to contribute $125 towards the campaign – we’ve had great participation the last few years and we should keep the momentum going! As always, many thanks for all you do to support our club! I will look forward to seeing you at this fall’s meetings and events!

With appreciation
Peter Georgiton

Literacy Initiatives

In support of community reading at all levels, the Dublin AM Rotary Club will continue the following efforts this Rotary year.
  • Support book donation and school-based reading program in partnership with the “2nd and 7 Foundation.” We will collect books and facilitate a donation of $2,000 focused on Dublin City Schools elementary schools with the highest percentage of students qualifying for free and reduced-price lunch programs.
  • Partner with Dublin Education Foundation to supplement their literacy-focused programs developed by teachers at all grade levels in Dublin City Schools with a donation of $3,000.
  • Collect magazines for reading by community members of all ages at Dublin Methodist Hospital.
Look for emails over the coming months from Literacy Committee members Julie Erwin Rinaldi and Roberta Kayne with more details on how you can help. Email Julie to get involved in the committee.

Interact Meetings Underway
Dublin Interact Clubs, Rotary International affiliated service clubs for youth aged 12-18, held a joint meeting in September. Students from Coffman, Jerome, and Scioto High Schools, as well as Davis and Karrer Middle Schools, met to plan service projects. Look for more details in future newsletters.

Welcome to Socktober

This month marks our first district-wide service project of the year. We call it “Sock-tober” as we focus on a sock collection to help people experiencing homelessness. Socks are the most requested item of clothing for people living on the streets or in shelters, since they can’t do laundry and they wear out quickly when worn constantly.

Last year, the Circleville club was the district grand prize winner with 2,886 pairs of socks collected and the Logan club was the top collector per capita, with almost 41 pairs of socks collected per club member! As a district, we collected over 20,000 pairs of socks that were donated to local shelters.

This year, in addition to socks, we are also collecting hats, gloves, and underwear at every club meeting in October.
