Dublin AM Rotary Newsletter from Ingrid Fields -
May 2024

Ingrid's Corner:

You will receive what you put in ~ and more !

Thanks for the terrific participation at the May 3rd member survey workshop
meeting (photo above)! We received excellent recommendations and are building on such strong members and relationships.

Community Service Day was well served on May 4th.

Betting was strong at the Kentucky Derby party. The hats, the food and Phil’s home made it special. (Strong Mint Juleps were lovely too)

The newsletter comments will be short today with 2 asks:

1. Join a committee or drive a committee forward please

2. If you notice a member has not been around as much the last few
months, reach out and invite their participation again. We all can use a
friendly call occasionally.

Keep Up the strong march toward the Memorial Pro Am Day.

See you Friday!

Committee Updates:

Literacy ~ Scholarships:   Steve Schmitt & Steve Burigana

Did you know that the money we raise goes towards helping students in Dublin Schools go to college?  The Scholarship Awards committee will be awarding these Scholarships on this Friday, May 10!

Social Committee:  Mike Isler

The Social Committee invites you to join our committee! We meet every 4-6 weeks in various spots around Dublin and plan the fun fellowship events that are offered to our Club. Everyone on the committee shares the workload, so the time commitment is very manageable. If interested, reach out to Mike Isler michaeljisler1@gmail.com

Meals on Wheels:   Jill Kranstuber and Cindy Groeniger

A knock at the door might not seem like a big deal to many of us. But, to a home-bound senior, it could signal the arrival of the only person they might see all day or all week long. It brings hope. It brings health. It brings the nutrition and care that will completely make their day. A knock from Meals on Wheels can even save lives.

We are asking for your help in delivering Meals on Wheels to seniors in the Dublin community. It only takes an hour once a week but it makes a huge difference to the senior that you are delivering much-needed food to.  Please click on the attached SignUp Genius link to see how you can help.  We need help for April.

Thank you!!
Jill & Cindy

International Committee:  Sharon Kendall has been working with several other Rotary Clubs to make these two projects happen with our financial support.

WATER PROJECT: We recently collaborated with the Coshocton Rotary club and other clubs in District 6690 to provide clean water to several villages in Zambia. Rotarians in collaboration with NGOs, The Matthew 712 Project and Design Outreach seek to support the people of Zambia by providing access to a reliable clean water source as well as providing the proper education and training to maintain reliable clean water sources.  We are fortunate to have boots on the ground via two Coshocton Rotarians who travel to Zambia several times throughout the year.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Dublin AM Rotary has collaborated with the La Romana Flor Del Este Rotary Club in the Dominican Republic to provide one high school student with a 4 year scholarship for an English language program.  The program aims to generate a positive impact both in the short and long term in the lives of participants and the community as a whole. Expected outcomes include improvement in individual employment opportunities and long-term economic growth for the community.
