Dublin AM Rotary Newsletter SEPT 2025

President Peter's Message

On September 6, Wolf Lant, Claudia Trusty, Ingrid Fields, and I had the opportunity to attend the Zone 30/31 Institute.  Each of the Rotary Districts are part of a Zone (District 6690 is in Zone 30), and each year Zones 30 and 31 team up to host a conference in a different host city.  This year, we were fortunate to have the Zone 30/31 Institute held right here in Columbus.

During this Institute we met with Rotarians from all over the Midwest and the South and heard from two past Rotary International Presidents.  There were multiple breakout sessions where we shared best practices with fellow Rotarians to help strengthen each other’s clubs.  It was truly a rewarding experience.  But you need not be a member of the Dublin AM Rotary Board to attend events like this.  I encourage each of you to take advantage of the multiple District 6690 and Zone events held throughout the year, including the upcoming District 6690 Fall Assembly on October 18 in Nelsonville.  (For more information visit the District website at rotary6690.org.)   I’ll look forward to seeing you at the next District event!

With appreciation
Peter Georgiton

Project Update: Deep Griha Society

Join us for the October 10, 2025 Dublin AM Rotary Club meeting to hear a brief update from Ashlesha Onawale, Director of the Deep Griha Society in India, that previously received a grant from the Dublin AM Rotary Club as part of our international outreach.

Deep Griha operates a residential facility for children whose immediate family is unable to meet the daily needs of the child. Apart from access to education, the program organizes various activities for the overall development of the children.

The agriculture program is an effort towards financial sustainability for Deep Griha, while demonstrating environmentally responsible farming practices and providing healthy and fresh food to the children. They grow food to meet the needs of the kitchen that is run for the children. Any extras are sold for income generation to help run the program. The children are involved in the growing and have an opportunity to learn about soil health, organic farming, and other related topics. Learn more on October 10!

Rotary Focuses on Education

The Rotary International theme for August is Education. Dublin AM Rotary engages in many education-related projects throughout the year, from collecting books for literacy programs, to awarding scholarships in support of higher education, to promoting leadership development in students through engagement in Rotary youth programs.

On August 9, student officers with Interact Clubs organized through Coffman High School, Jerome High School, Scioto High School, and Davis Middle School met at Camp Mary Orton.  The students worked on leadership skills and planned activities for the school year to engage their peers in service above self.  One student leader is pictured below on the high ropes course.

Upcoming Social Event: Happy Hour at the Museum

Date: September 11, 2025 from 4:40-7:30pm

Location: Dublin History Museum, 35 S. High Street

Details:

The Dublin History Museum is a great place to visit, tour and have a drink!  Mike Jewell and Rich Weber have invited us to Happy Hour at the Museum. Weather permitting, we can enjoy their lovely courtyard but if not, we'll be in their meeting room.

We will be in the heart of a DORA zone, so BYOB or stop by one of the bars and restaurants and purchase your beverage of choice. If you haven't visited this area in a while, maybe spend a bit of time walking around to see what's happening in Historic Dublin.
